Paul Walker's daughter, Meadow Walker, has received a settlement for a lawsuit she brought against Porsche claiming their model was at fault for his death.
The daughter of the late and famous actor Paul Walker has settled a wrongful death lawsuit with Porsche over her father’s death. The lawsuit lasted two years after she claimed that Porsche was responsible for her father’s death. Lawyers had claimed that the car company knew of the model’s stability issues. It’s also been claimed that the seatbelt was defective and prevented Walker from being able to escape the vehicle before it burst into flames.
Walker was 40 years old riding in a Porsche Carrera GT when excessive speed caused his driver to veer off the road and crash into a tree on November 30th, 2013. Both Walker and the driver, Roger Rodas, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Meadow Walker, Paul Walker’s daughter, brought a lawsuit against Porsche, claiming that a lack of safety features prevented her father from surviving the crash. It’s claimed that because of the seatbelt, Walker was trapped – still alive for a full 20 seconds – before the car erupted into flames, killing both Walker and Rodas.
Initially, Porsche had claimed that Walker “knowingly and voluntarily assumed all risk, perils and danger in respect to the use of the subject 2005 Carrera GT.” Details of the settlement, however, have not been released.
